Who will teach my Child while I’m in service?

Each of our ministry partners has been interviewed and have completed a background check. This process ensures that we will provide your child with the best possible care in a safe, secure, and child-friendly environment.

What will my Child be taught?

We use Lifeway’s The Gospel Project For Kids for our entire U!Kids Ministry, birth-5th grade. The Gospel Project takes children on a Christ-centered, chronological journey through Scripture. Children will discover how the Gospel unfolds from Genesis through Revelation. When children truly experience the Gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the Gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.

The Gospel Project for Kids will help you teach children to:

  • See the Big Story: Children will understand that the Bible is not a collection of stories, but God’s unified story of redemption.

  • Grasp Essential Christian Doctrines: The Big Picture Questions and Answers are designed to help kids understand essential theological doctrines of the Christian faith.

  • Study the Old and New Testaments: Children spend equal time in the Old and New Testaments, learning the key distinctions of each and how they fit together.

How do I check in my child?

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the service begins.

  1. Enter the set of doors indicated by the orange U!Kids flags.

  2. Inside this entrance, you will find a U!Kids “First Time” Check-in area. Friendly volunteers will help register your family on one of our computer kiosks.

  3. Each of your children will receive a name tag with a security code.

  4. Parents will receive a claim ticket with the same security code, which must be presented to the room volunteers when picking up your child.

  5. You will then walk your child to his or her classroom (The check-in people can help point you where to go!)

How do i check out my child?

  1. A Ministry Partner will greet you at the classroom door.

  2. A Ministry Partner will verify that your security tag matches child’s tag number. Once this match has been made, they will remove your child’s label.

  3. To ensure security, your child will not be released without presentation of your corresponding tag!

How would I be contacted if I needed to be reached for some reason while my child is in class?

In the event that you need to be reached during the service, you will be texted using the number you registered at our Check-in kiosk.  Reasons for contacting the parents are as follows:

  • Child is sick (fever, vomiting, etc)

  • Child is crying uncontrollably for an extended period of time

  • Child has an accident and needs parent’s assistance

How will my child be kept safe?

At University Baptist Church we value children. We value ministry with children. We are committed to making this environment a safe place for children to learn and experience God’s love and truths.

All U!Kids ministry partners are background checked. Each ministry partner receives a U!Kids Ministry Handbook and are trained on the policies and procedures for the U!Kids ministry. Also, each ministry partner is engaged in training on safety protocols and appropriate child development and interactions.

We also have a safety team that monitors the hallways and classroom areas throughout the day.

Are the people who volunteer screened before they work with my child?

Before a leader or helper works with the children, the U!Kids Ministry Director or the group coordinator has an ‘introduction talk’ with the person about their motivation, expectations and understanding about the structure of the ministry.

  • Every potential partner completes an Application for Ministering and is reviewed but the Children’s Ministry leadership.

  • Every person who completes the Application for Ministering has a background check completed using Checkr.
