Prayer Focus: The Unreached People of Argentina.
We will begin this year intentionally praying for the Unreached People Groups (URPG) within the countries that our UBC supported missionaries serve. Our focus will begin in Argentina where Pastor Fabian Santillan serves.
You may recall Pastor Fabian has been working with the Quichua Santiago del Estero, who were considered an unengaged and unreached group with no known Christian witness. Over the past few years, they have been removed from the unengaged status, but are still considered as unreached (Global Status of Evangelical Christianity rating of 1). Pastor Fabian and his Church in Clodomira continue to engage and have established two groups studying the Word and have seen seven baptisms.
In addition, there are two Unreached People groups in Argentina. The first are the Turks who live near Buenos Aires. They are considered a Frontier People Group. This means there are virtually no followers of Jesus and there is no known movement to Jesus. The Turks originated in Turan, a region between the Caspian Sea and the Mongolian desert. In the 11th century they arrived in Anatolia Turkey (Asia Minor) and by 1299 they dominated and began ruling over the Ottoman Dynasty. During this time a small number migrated to Argentina. They are Muslim and it is estimated that their population in Argentina is ~800.
The second URPG are the Spanish and Russian speaking jews of Argentina. They migrated to Argentina, fleeing religious persecution in ~1492 after Spain decreed conversion to Roman Catholicism or risk expulsion or death. There is an estimated population of 17,600 in Argentina. Most live in Buenos Aires, Cordoba or Santa Fe. Most now speak Russian. They often view Christianity as the religion of their oppressor, especially the Jews in the Spanish speaking world.
Prayers:
For the Turks
- Pray for Christians to reach out personally and relationally with the Turks, by inviting them into their lives so they may see the Gospel lived out.
- Pray for the LORD to prepare the hearts of the Turks to receive the Gospel
- Pray for patience among brothers and sisters who answer the call as they build loving relationships that will allow sharing of the Gospel
For the Spanish Russian speaking Jews
- Pray the LORD gives them a heart that seeks the truth found only in Jesus
- Pray they will not be satisfied with cultural traditions
- Pray the LORD of the harvest will raise up ambassadors to take the message of reconciliation to these Jewish people
Mission Highlight: Living on Mission and Blessing Every Home
How can we better reach our communities with simple faith? How can we remove our candles from under the bushels of our hurried and complicated lives? Well we have a couple helpful tools here at UBC that can be utilized to improve our outreach to our neighbors, co-workers, friends and family. The first tool is a Sunday morning class teaching core principals on reaching, discipling and serving others with the Gospel called “Living on Mission”. Be sure to plan ahead to join the next session. Another tool is through Prayer walking. Come meet with others as we pray on the first Saturday morning of each month. Also consider looking into the app “BlessEveryHome” as an additional helpful tool to personally reach your immediate neighbors, or for your growth group to actively increase their personal reach to others. You can find out more about each of these on the UBC mission page.
One of many words used to describe reaching others with the Gospel from the greek is martureo “witnessing”. In its original context it is the earliest Christians attesting to what they have seen, heard and experienced concerning Jesus Christ and His life changing power. In our present context we now witness what we have seen, heard, and experience concerning Jesus Christ and how He has brought us from darkness to light. We have a great message to share so try these helpful tools to be a witness of the Gospel to your neighbors.

Monthly Mission Quotes:
“And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.” Dan 7:14 ESV
“The Concern for world evangelization is not something tacked on to a man’s personal Christianity, which he may take or leave as he chooses. It is rooted in the character of the God who has come to us in Christ Jesus. Thus, it can never be the province of a few enthusiasts, a sideline or a specialty of those who happen to have a bent that way, it is the distinctive mark of being a Christian.” James Stuart Stewart.
