Prayer Focus

The Santilláns: Our Ministry Partners in Argentina

This month we will pray for another of our mission partners, Fabian Santillán from Clodomira, Argentina. Fabian is pastor of Jesus Christ My Hope Church and has a passion to reach the lost. In the past few years, he began engaging with the Quichua, Santiago de Estero, an unreached people group in northern Argentina. He and his wife Viviana have four children and one grandchild.
Pastor Fabian has a full schedule planned for 2025. He will focus on training and evangelism in the northern provinces of Argentina. He plans to also host a medical team from Paraguay to provide care in an isolated region where the indigenous Quichua-speaking people live, work with the local schools, and reach out to local disadvantaged communities through his church’s organization “Mission Compassion.” On a recent trip in February, Pastor Fabian and a team from his church trained 60 believers in evangelism and discipleship in Colombres, in the province of Tucumán. Following the training, those believers went around their city to share the gospel, and many placed their trust in Christ.
Let us intentionally pray for the Santilláns and their ministry this month.

Prayers

  • That God will continue the work in Colombres and produce a movement throughout Tucumán.

  • For the evangelization campaign going on right now in the neighborhoods of Malligasta in the province of La Rioja. Pray that the team will present the gospel with boldness and that many people will open their hearts to the saving grace of Jesus.

  • For the new church being planted in the city of Tilimuki in early March.

  • That local churches will be mobilized to reach their regions for Christ.

  • For more pastors and leaders who can be encouraged to fulfill the Great Commission and plant more healthy churches in Argentina, specifically in the provinces of Tucumán, Catamarca, La Rioja, Mendoza, Cordoba, and Santa Fe. And that all would have the same mind in the Lord.

  • For Fabian and his team to wisely manage the opportunities presented to them.

  • For the spiritual, physical and emotional health of Fabian and his team, and for protection from the schemes of the evil one.

  • For the human and economic resources to carry out the plans God has laid on their hearts this year.

  • For the earth to be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).

Mission Highlight

The Scriptures Come Alive on Trip to Greece

This January, Pastor Jason and Jim Corbin joined Mike Hamilton in taking a team to Greece. A large portion of the trip was focused on walking in the footsteps of Paul’s second missionary trip, which is discussed in Acts 16 through Acts 18.

In both Philippi and Corinth, they walked on paths that Paul more than likely walked on. In Philippi, they saw the remains of a prison cell like where Paul and Silas may have been when the earthquake broke their chains, leading to the jailor’s conversion. In Athens, they were on Mars Hill where Paul gave his passionate speech to the Greeks, with the Parthenon in the background. These were just a few of the highlights of the trip. The men discussed how much different these chapters of Acts will be in their “vision” as they now have been eye witnesses of where Paul was on the trip.

Thinking back on the trip, Jim reflected “Seeing the distances that Paul traveled to take the gospel from one place to another was impactful. We drove in busses for hours at a time to go from one city to the next, yet Paul, at that time with roads that were much different, persevered. His message to the Romans now recorded in Romans 1:16-17 is much more heartfelt and drives me to be bolder.”

Lord-willing, UBC will offer a future trip for those who want to walk in Paul’s steps as well.

Opportunity

UBC Partnering with International Friendships, Inc.

Dear Friend,

Recently, UBC has partnered with International Friendships, Inc. (IFI) – whose purpose is to extend life-changing hospitality to international students out of reverence for Jesus. Personally, this is a mission that speaks to my heart!

Have you been thinking about how to share God’s love globally, perhaps even from where you are right now – in this job, this house, this season of life, even the busyness of this week? If so, keep reading! The volunteer opportunities at IFI are, in a word, approachable, but the effects for God’s kingdom are far and wide.

There are many ways to get involved, some great and some small. For instance, volunteers can welcome new students and assist with IFI large-group activities, be a meal provider for Friday Night Life Group, provide transportation to students, host students for a meal in your home, host students for holidays or special occasions, provide temporary housing, or lend a hand with expertise such as social media/marketing and administrative work.

No matter what season of life the Lord has placed you, He has a grand purpose for His kingdom and you are part of it. If any of this speaks to your heart the way it did mine, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at meganbethk@gmail.com or 937-241-6704. I am grateful to you for reading this far, and for all the ways you seek Him today.

Every Blessing, Megan

Opportunity

Monthly Prayer Walk

The monthly Prayer Walk took a pause during the coldest months but is ready to kick off again in April! During these walks we meet up as a group then walk through local neighborhoods, praying for those that live there as we go. When opportunities present themselves we also offer to pray with individuals we meet. This spring, we will also expand our prayer walks to the Huber Heights area where Gospel Heights Church, the first UBC church plant, will be located.

We go out on the first Saturday of each month. The next prayer walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 5th at 10:30 AM. We will be meeting in the UBC Main parking lot and a location to be determined in Huber Heights. You can register here.

Monthly Mission Quote:

"Having experiences with Jesus and his book, The Bible, qualify all of us to tell what we have seen and heard. Just before His ascension, Jesus promised in Acts 1:8, that his followers would have the power to be his witnesses...We simply tell what we have seen and heard and experienced of our amazing Savior, Jesus."
