Reasons why we are reluctant to say it’s wrong
We think feelings are morally neutral
A misunderstanding of Scripture
We don’t want to make people feel more guilty
Because we haven’t thought about what anger at a person really is
The Application of the Answer
Get honest about your anger
Turn toward God in your test
Remember, God makes divine appointments out of disappointments
Questions for Greater Discussion
What are some ways you need to “get honest” with the group regarding anger or frustrations you have been dealing with towards the Lord?
What is something in your life that didn’t go the way you had hoped? How did you deal with that internally? Did you struggle with anger towards God because of it?
What does our anger do to us internally? How does bitterness towards God manifest itself in our life and actions?
Consider Habakkuk 3:17-18 and Job 42:1-6. How should these responses after God’s correction flavor our understanding of how we can respond to our hurts and questions?
Consider Colossians 3:5-8. How do we put away our sinful emotions and deal with them in a righteous way? (The answer is in Colossians 3:9-10).
What is the difference between anger and grief? What are some ways you have had to wrestle through your emotions towards the Lord and his sovereignty over your life?
