Read Genesis 39
Main Idea: The blessing of God’s presence will help us in times of life’s trials.
Three Questions - From Genesis 39
What does this passage teach us historically?
Summary: Genesis 39 tells the story of Joseph in Egypt, where he is bought by Potiphar, an official of Pharaoh, and quickly becomes overseer of his household due to the LORD’s presence and blessing. All is well until Joseph is tested by an adulteress, the wife of his master. Great temptation and clear integrity are put on display as God’s blessing causes Joseph to choose God and flee adultery. The price Joseph pays for his integrity, however, is an unjust prison sentence. And even in prison, the LORD is seen as sovereign and loving to Joseph.
