Throne Title: Wonderful Counselor

Main Idea: Jesus is the king with the wisdom to lead a world in need.

 
 

What does the title mean?

  • Wonder and awe (unbelievable in a sense)

  • Authority, wisdom, and discernment

  • Jesus gives us guidance in our time of need

How do we see it in the life of Jesus?

  • The woman at the well

  • Sermon on the Mount teaching

  • True authority in his teaching

Why does it matter to our lives today?

  • We need counsel and insight from the Lord

  • The brokenness around us reminds us we and others desperately need him.

 
 

Questions For Greater Discussion

  • What does it mean practically for Christ to be our wonderful counselor? How does this attribute of his reign affect our daily living?

  • Can you think of a situation where someone counseled you in a helpful way? What about a situation where someone counseled you poorly?

  • Please read Proverbs 3:5-6. What is a way you have had to reject human wisdom and accept the counsel of Christ?

  • What decisions have you made over the last few months that have been difficult? What principles or guidance helped you make the decision?

  • Please read Matthew 11:28-30. Take a moment and reflect: How much do you need Christ? A little? A lot? Why or why not? How can you grow in your dependence on Him moving forward?
