UBC Mission Update - 2021, Issue 7

Prayer Focus: New & Returning College Students

Student.png

Welcome (back) to all new and returning college students!  As evidenced by our church’s name, university students have always played an integral role in the life of UBC--it is a joy to have many back among us!  College is a special time of life with opportunity for academic enrichment, preparation for future occupations, and diverse social interactions.

Please pray for our college student members and visitors as they begin or continue their studies at various academic institutions within the local area.

  1. Pray for strength in their studies...that they might honor God with all of their mind, and make the most of their time during these years!

  2. Pray for strengthened biblical convictions and bold witness among unbelievers on and off campus.

Pray for a Kingdom-advancing mindset as they prepare for service to Christ, His church, and the world in whatever vocation they pursue.

Recent Highlight: Ethan O’Neel’s Mission Trip

“Hey, UBC. Thank you for supporting my trip! I went to Central Asia, and I was working with missionaries there on the ground. We were able to share the gospel with many of the locals there and connect them back to the workers on the ground. This summer was a time of incredible growth in my own life, but I also got to see the Church grow. Thank you so much for your prayers and encouraging notes!” -Ethan O’Neel

Spotlight: Athletes in Action - Hart & Mahan Families

Athletes in Action (AIA) is a ministry of Cru which uses sports as a medium for reaching lost athletes and coaches with the gospel, and discipling them in the faith. AIA is passionate about making disciples who make disciples in the realm of sports.

Dave Hart and his family (Nikki ((wife)), Brady, Jordan, Abby, and Quinn) serve across several college campuses here in OH. Their team’s mission is to build multiplying spiritual movements in all 937 athletic departments that impact the campuses, communities, and world for Christ. Dave and Nikki are also a part of the Ohio Ultimate Training Camp (UTC) Leadership Team, which is responsible for the planning, recruiting, training, hosting, and execution of the Ohio UTC. This camp happens each summer (when Covid isn't a factor :) and hosts college athletes from across the nation.

Clint Mahan recently accepted a new position through AIA as a campus minister, sports chaplain, and missions coordinator for Lincoln University, a historically black college in Jefferson City, Missouri. Here he will serve youth camps through AIA student athletes, serve in sports outreach with teams through local prison ministry, partner with a minority male high school curriculum and camp called JAM (Jesus, Athletics, Manhood), and develop an annual mission project for AIA students along with weekly Bible studies, sport chapels, and individual discipleship for those interested.

The Hart family and Clint Mahan are members of UBC. Please pray for these men and their families, their ministries, and the hearts of unbelieving athletes and coaches with whom they will seek to share the gospel, as well as believers who they will seek to build up in the faith and train in disciple-making.
