Medical Mission Trip - Paraguay, South America

This past March, Jeff Robinson and Charity Best of UBC were part of a medical mission team that partnered with a local Paraguayan church to use compassionate medical care as a tool to reach people for Christ. During five days of medical clinics the team saw 906 patients. 179 accepted Christ as their Savior and another 188 expressed interest in pastoral visitation!

Jeff shared this story:

“Our host for lunch one day was a man who previously lived a life of drug trafficking. He was jailed for four years in Argentina, then was captured again in Paraguay and spent four more years in jail. During this incarceration he and his trafficker friends decided to attempt an escape. The plan was to meet in the pavilion where the Christians had their meetings because it would be less suspicious. He was the only one that showed up that night. Sitting in that meeting, he heard the gospel, and was saved. Praise God! He and his wife now host kids’ clubs in their house and they are planning to open a soup kitchen in that impoverished area. Local pastors are assisting him with the ultimate goal of planting a church. God is at work! It is amazing that God allows us to play a part in His rescue mission”

Pray:

  • For the believers the team worked with as they disciple those new Christians

  • For the team as they plan next year's trip and look at how they might expand this type of ministry for God’s kingdom

Ephesians 3:20: Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Part of this experience includes leading a team of five other Ten2 participants. He will then spend time in Greece studying the missionary journey of Paul and will finish up the summer in Slovenia at GEM’s Annual Conference before returning home on August 6th.
