II Thessalonians - Week 3

Sunday, June 13, 2021

  1. When you were younger, what questions or thoughts did you have about the 2nd coming of Christ, the rapture, etc.?

    • If you grew up in church, were perspectives on the end times hard to discuss or divisive?

  2. Take some time to read II Thessalonians 2:1-12 aloud.

  3. According to this passage, there are 3 things that have to happen before the return of Christ. The first is that the “rebellion will be realized.” What will this rebellion include?

  4. Jason said there is a difference between “true believers” and “false believers” in the Church. What are those differences?

    • What is apostasy?

  5. The second thing that has to happen before Christ’s return is that the Antichrist will be revealed. What are the identifying qualities/characteristics of the Antichrist?

  6. The third thing that has to happen before Christ’s return is that the “restrainer will be removed.” Jason talked about how the “spirit of the Antichrist” is already here and at work and the “restrainer” is holding it back. How do you see the “spirit of the Antichrist” being played out today?

    • What will happen after the “restrainer” is removed?

  7. Verse 8 talks about the one thing that will happen DURING the Lord’s return. What is it and why is it so awesome?

  8. Do you believe that the events surrounding the return of Christ will actually happen?

  9. Jason talked about our need to not only believe the truth but to love the truth. How can we know when we have moved from just basic belief of the truth to genuinely loving the truth?
