The faithfulness of God to you compels your life of faith in Him

What does this passage teach us historically?

  • God called out to Abram and initiated a covenant with him

    • God calls Abram to a land he will show him

    • God says he will make him a nation

    • God says he will make his name great

    • God promises protection

    • God promises blessing on Abram and his descendants (and those you bless)

  • Abram responded in obedience and followed the Lord’s instruction coming into the land

  • Abram moves forward in faith

What does this passage teach us theologically?

  • God faithfully fulfills every promise he makes

  • God ultimately fulfilled his promise to Abram in the sending of Christ

How does this passage apply to our lives?

  • Live with faith in God and in his son, Jesus Christ

  • Live with faith marked by worshipful obedience
