  • What are some basic facts we know about the book of Colossians before we really discuss 1:28? Why is Christian maturity so important to Paul in the context of this book?

  • What does it mean to be “in Christ”? How does Paul seem to understand this identity shift? Popcorn some verses around the room and remember what it means to be “in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:1, Ephesians 2:10)

  • Please read 2 Corinthians 3:18. How are we transformed to look more and more like Christ?

  • What are some evidences of Christian maturity? In your life or the life of others?

  • 3 Biblical reasons we pursue maturity

    • Helps you avoid false doctrine

      • How does Ephesians 4:11-14 show us the marks of avoiding false teaching?

    • Helps you help others grow in their faith

      • How does Hebrews 5:12-14 define Christian maturity?

    • Helps you avoid divisions over church leaders

      • How does 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 show us the divisions among men walking in the flesh?

  • What are some barriers you find in your life that seem to keep you from growing in your Christian Maturity?

  • What is one step you need to take this week to see maturity develop in your walk with Christ?
