Main Text: Matthew 28:18-20
What does it mean to multiply disciples?
Every disciple making disciples who follow Jesus
*To be a disciple of Jesus means you are a follower of Christ*
Having a reaching and teaching mentality
Why would we be involved in the multiplication of disciples
Because it keeps us on the mission Jesus gave us
Because we want to experience the presence of Jesus with us
Personal Questions:
Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Are you making disciple of Jesus?
Questions for greater discussion:
“The mission of a disciple is to make other disciples, you can’t just be a disciple only. Rather, we are also called to make disciples.” What are you doing to practice this in your daily life? Is your lifestyle centered on this mission put before the church? How?
Is there a difference between faith in Christ and following Christ? How is that shone? (*Texts on following Jesus from Jason* Matthew 4:18-22, John 1:43, Luke 9:23). Does your belief lead to practice? How?
What is the point of baptism and why is it important for the life of our church for baptisms to be a part of our times of worship? (1 Peter 3:18-22 is an interesting baptism text you can discuss)
How do you see our church reaching and teaching? What are some ways we can grow as a church in these disciple-making practices?
Why is the authority of Jesus in verse 18 necessary for the commission of verse 19?
How does Christ’s presence embolden our capacity to make disciples?
“Attending and serving in our church does not mean you are making disciples.” How do you need to shift your focus from building our church attendance to making disciples?
