Generations: Week 4

Sunday May 31, 2020

  • Jason shared 12 traits that a surveyed group found important to pass on to the next generation. Which 3 traits would you say are most important to pass on?

  • Independence

  • Tolerance

  • Religious Faith

  • Being Well-mannered

  • Empathy for Others

  • Hard Work

  • Obedience

  • Persistence

  • Being Responsible

  • Curiosity

  • Creativity

  • Helping Others

  • If you’re going through these questions with your Growth Group, have the kids be a part of the conversation today.

  • Take some time to read Psalm 78:5-7 aloud.

  • Where are your kids (or the kids in your group) in terms of their relationship with Jesus?

  • Jason said that when we share the depths of our sin, we show the goodness of our Savior. Do you have a regular rhythm of confession or do you struggle to share your sin with others?

    • Is it harder for you to consider sharing your sin with the next generation?

    • If so, why?

  • Was there a moment where you were skeptical or unsure of a truth about God but a personal experience changed your mind/perspective about it?

  • Is there a particular story in Scripture that has greatly increased your hope and trust in God?

  • Kids, what is 1 important thing that your parents have taught you about God?

  • Parents, how can your personal time in God’s Word spill over to influence your kids? How will they see and know what you are learning?

  • Take some time to pray over the kids God has put in your life (your kids, your friends’ kids, Growth Group kids, etc).

    • Please pray for UBC’s ministry to kids as well. Specifically, as we consider how to reassemble, pray that God would give us wisdom in how we should approach, implement, and staff safe & meaningful experiences for our kids.

*If you find yourself unable to confidently say that you’ve been saved by Jesus, please reach out to your Growth Group or our church staff. We’d love to help!
