Jude Week 1

Sunday August 9, 2020

  1. At the beginning of the sermon, Jason referenced superheroes. So, for fun, which superhero is your favorite and why?

  2. Re-read Jude 1:1-4.

  3. The point of the book of Jude is to contend for the faith. Jason specifically said we are called to contend for the content of our faith. Why is it important to contend for the content of our faith? (vs 4 gives us a hint)

  4. What false beliefs are attacking the content of our faith today? (What patterns of our culture, popular thoughts, etc go directly against Biblical doctrine?)

  5. What is the difference between contending for the faith and using the faith to be contentious?

  6. Do you find yourself more prone to argue with people about your beliefs OR to avoid potentially hard conversations about your beliefs? What are the risks with either side?

  7. In the sermon, we looked into the calling of God - the “general call” (open invitation) and the “effectual call” (foreknew & predestined). How do those 2 callings work together?

  8. As you think about being one of God’s “beloved”, what does it mean to you? How does it impact your thoughts & actions?

  9. How does the calling, loving, and keeping power of God equip us to contend for the faith?

  10. Was there anything else from the sermon that stood out to you?
