Make Him Known - Week 1 - Missionally
Sunday, October 3, 2021
This week we kicked off our 2 year church-wide “Make Him Known” campaign. If you are able to, take 10 min to watch the vision video as you start your discussion time. https://youtu.be/mFAH8YdL-f8
What is this campaign ultimately about?
What are some of the major goals of this initiative?
What makes it different from a traditional building campaign? (And why did Jason say that we should treat the words “building campaign” as a cuss word?)
What questions do you still have about this campaign? (Some of the answers are likely found in your “Make Him Known” books that you received on Sunday. A digital version can also be found at www.ubcbeavercreek.com/makehimknown)
Would you say that you are more excited or nervous (or something else) about this campaign? What factors are making you feel that way?
In our first of the five-week sermon series “Make Him Known”, our sermon revolved around the call for a disciple to make Christ known missionally. What does it mean to be “missional” or live “missionally”?
Read Matthew 28:18-20 together. What are the specific commands of the Great Commission?
Why is Jesus’ power & authority so important for these commands?
What hinders you from having a more missional mindset and lifestyle? (Basically, why does it seem so hard to “go”?)
What is one opportunity you have right now to be missional? (This could be sharing the Gospel with a coworker, a family member, etc. It could also be supporting or joining a missions effort at UBC or elsewhere.)
The very last sentence of v20 is very simple but profoundly important for us as we join God’s mission. Why?
How has God been challenging you about your part in this initiative to Make Him Known?
*Reminders:
Go to www.ubcbeavercreek.com/makehimknown for a digital copy of the “Make Him Known” book.
The 2nd half of the book is a weekly/daily guide for the month of October. We would love for every person in UBC to follow along with the weekly challenges and daily prayer times.
Oct 5 & Oct 28 are church-wide days of prayer & fasting. (Read more about these in the “Make Him Known” book.) Consider how your group can encourage each other to pursue God’s will for those days. Discuss the impacts of those days and what God taught us through them.
UBC’s Missions Team has been doing a great job and helping our church discern the best way to focus our missional efforts. Go to https://www.ubcbeavercreek.com/mission to learn more and join in.
