Acts - Week 1

  1. At the beginning of the sermon, Jason talked about movie sequels. In your opinion, what are some of the best movie sequels that you’ve ever seen? (Or worst movie sequels?)

  2. What hints do we get in scripture that show us that Acts is the sequel to the Gospel of Luke?  (See Luke 1 & Acts 1. Also, see Jason’s explanation here.) 

  3. Who are some of the main characters throughout the book of Acts? 

  4. There are 3 major sections of Acts: chapters 1-7, chapters 8-12, and chapters 13-28. Give a 1 sentence description of each of these sections. 

  5. Jason said there are 4 major themes in this book - all beginning with the letter ‘S’. What were those 4 themes? 

  6. We will learn a lot about the Holy Spirit as we dig into this book and we will keep an ongoing list of things we’re learning about Him. To start, who is the Holy Spirit and what is His unique role in the Trinity? 

  7. If you could only use 1 sentence, how would you describe the big point of the book of Acts? 

  8. Overall, how do you feel about us embarking on a 2 year journey through Acts?

  9. As we go through this book, we will see a lot of people working through 2 basic questions: Who is Jesus? What does He want me to do? How would you answer those questions today?
