Acts - Week 5

Sunday, February 13th, 2022

  1. Since last week (sermon & group discussion), have you had any additional thoughts or “revelations” about the work of the Holy Spirit? (This could be observations of Pentecost, something you read in the Word this week, or how you see Him at work today.)

  2. Read Acts 2:22-41 to hear the 2nd part of Peter’s sermon at Pentecost.

  3. Take some time to remind yourself of the context of Peter’s sermon:

    • What has gone on before his message?

    • What is motivating his message?

    • What has he already covered in the first part of his message?

  4. In v22, Peter says that the crowd has seen Jesus’ “mighty works and wonders and signs”. What were some of these things that the crowd would have witnessed?

    • Why does Peter emphasize that they’ve seen these things? (Why does this matter in the grand scheme of his message?)

  5. Peter makes 2 very important points in v23 - what are they and why must they go hand in hand?

  6. What is Peter trying to help people realize in vs 24-36?

  7. In a beautiful turn of events, the crowd responds with humility & conviction asking what they should do in light of these truths. What is Peter’s response to them? (What does he tell them to do?) [See vs 37-39]

    • There can be confusion about what vs 38 really means. What is Peter saying and what is he NOT saying?

    • Why is it important to get this right? (What are the possible implications of getting this wrong?)

  8. Jason gave 3 specific application points for us at the end of the message - is there 1 in particular that you are being challenged by?

    • If you haven’t done so, repent and believe in Jesus as Lord and Christ.

    • If you haven’t been baptized as a believer, be baptized.

    • Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for a fresh harvest of souls.

  9. Spend some time praying in smaller groups for each other and the application of this passage.
