Acts - Week 9

Sunday, March 13th, 2022

  1. Read Acts 4:1-22 and then take some time to summarize this story in your own words.

  2. The Church had grown from 120 people to over 5,000 people (vs 4) in roughly 8 weeks. What were the significant contributors to this growth?

  3. Why were Peter & John on trial? (Be specific.)

    • We may not be arrested but what “trials” do we face when proclaiming the truth about Jesus?

  4. Why does Peter refer to Jesus as the “cornerstone”?

  5. In vs 12, Peter makes a statement about salvation being through Jesus alone. How do people tend to respond today when told that salvation is only possible through Jesus?

    • What other “saviors” do people tend to look to?

  6. In verses 15-20, we see the Jewish leaders trying to silence the message of salvation & healing through Jesus. How do Peter & John respond?

    • Have you experienced someone (or an organization, job, etc.) trying to silence you and your faith?

    • How should we respond?

  7. In the sermon, Pastor Jason pointed out the difference between the Peter who was in the temple court 8 weeks before this (denying Jesus) to the Peter 8 weeks later who was boldly proclaiming Jesus’ power to heal and resurrect. And then during the trial, the Jewish leaders recognized that these uneducated & common men were… different. What made Peter & John different? (Hint - see vs 8 & 13)

    • What does that imply for all of us?

  8. Pastor Jason challenged us to truly believe in the life-changing name of Jesus and to never stop “transmitting”. How have you seen or experienced the life-changing power of Jesus?

    • If you had to put your personal testimony of life-change into 3-5 sentences, how would you share it?

      • Take a minute and think it through. Don’t overcomplicate it. Simple is ok. Write it down. Share it with the group.

      • Keep it somewhere accessible and look at it often. That way you’re ready to share it whenever you’re given the opportunity.
