Acts - Week 12
Sunday, April 3rd, 2022
At the start of the sermon, Pastor Jason showed images of 3 animals that blend in with their surroundings in order to survive. What are some of the best examples of blending-in that you have seen?
In this week’s passage we learn about some people who tried to blend in… but it didn’t work out so well. Take some time to read Acts 5:1-11.
Describe the contrast between Barnabas at the end of chapter 4 and Ananias in this week’s passage.
When we lie or pretend to be something we’re not, what does it tell us about our view of God?
What does it tell us about our view of ourselves?
What was the “slavery of Ananias” that Jason described?
When we are living in the “slavery of Ananias” how does it tend to play out? (What does it look like in your life, today’s church culture, etc.?)
After reading this descriptive (not prescriptive) passage, how does it serve as a warning for Christians today?
What truths do we need to cling to in order to live in the “freedom of Barnabas”?
Is there a specific step God is calling you to take in light of this passage? (Confessing a sin, owning up to a lie or “mask”, an area of your life that needs to change, etc.)
