Missions Sunday

Sunday, October 23, 2022

This was a unique week which will require some different questions and discussion prompts. See below.

  1. Given the unusual nature of this week’s service, what ideas or observations stuck out to you (something you thought more about when you got home)?

  2. What particular lessons did the Lord teach you from the presentation on UBC and our missions ministry?

  3. Share personal stories from mission trips you’ve taken.

  4. Share any personal knowledge of UBC’s missionaries.

  5. Has the Lord laid on your heart any particular nations or people groups?

  6. During Jim’s challenge, he used the follow quote from John Piper:

“Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man.”

    • What is the relationship between worship and missions?

    • What happens if we separate the two?

  7. At the end of the service, Jim and Aldin shared some practical steps for us. Review them with your group.

    1. Pray for those in your circle of influence. (Share some names of people who need the Lord and people you are praying for currently).

    2. Prayer walks around key neighborhoods.

    3. Share the gospel with someone.

    4. Join UBC in 2023: goer, prayer partner, or financial supporter

    5. Ask: “What is holding me back”? (Share some of those potential hurdles/barriers)
