MHK Refresh - Make Him Known Here

Sunday, October 31, 2022

This week’s service began a three week “refresh” of our Make Him Known initiative. Please use the white “MHK” booklet given out this week to rehearse with the group all of the good things the Lord has done in the last year (see p. 4).
(The new booklet is also available online. Click Here or go to ubcmakehimknown.com/resources)

  1. Spend time giving thanks to the Lord for these blessings.

  2. Review the list Jason gave at the end of the sermon on what UBC is planning for the upcoming year as we seek to make Him known HERE. (also be sure to emphasize the need to sign up for email updates and follow us on social media for announcements. To sign up for church emails, click here, or go to ubcbeavercreek.com and click “Get Connected”. From there, fill out your contact info and select “Receiving Email Updates”)

  3. Ask: “Any questions about the MHK initiative?” (If there are any questions, feel free to contact a staff member with those questions so you can provide the answer next week.)

We focused this week on “Making Him Known Here.” Read our passage: 2 Peter: 1:3-11

First, Jason focused on our “Resources for Growth.” (vv. 3-4) Those resources include God’s power and God’s promises.

  1. List some ways the Bible describes God’s power.

  2. How does that power help us grow spiritually?

  3. Rehearse some of the promises God has made to us (mentioned by Jason). Which of God’s promises are particularly precious to you?

  4. Jason mentioned that a “mark of maturity” is learning to trust God’s promises. What

does it look like to “trust” God’s promises in our spiritual growth?

Second, Jason focused on the “Work of our Growth.” (vv. 5-7) Our passage provides a list of seven spiritual supplements.

  1. List the 7 supplements. Provide definitions as best you can.

  2. What might it look like if one is growing in these qualities? Be as specific as you can.

Finally, Jason focused on the “Reward for our Growth.” (vv. 9-11) If the supplements are present in our lives, then there will be transformation in our life.

  1. What are some of the “riches” reserved for us? What might that look like?

  2. How might we pray for each other and our spiritual growth this week?
