Acts Part 58 Sermon Guide
Read Acts 28:1-10
Review the main application points:
(Main Idea) In life’s storms, look for God’s kindness
In your storms, look for God’s kindness to be shown through you
The very Island of Malta means refuge. How has God proven to be your refuge in moments of hurt and need?
Consider Psalm 62:1-8
How does the Lord use other people and places to minister his grace to us in moments of need?
Has UBC or your growth group been a place of refuge for you and your family? How so?
Can you think of a time when you received help from someone tangibly and you were then able to share Jesus with them? Please explain.
The island natives believed in karma and at one point believed Paul was a sort of god. How do you share Christ with people who possess such different belief structures from you?
Paul lays his hands on Publius’ father, prays for him and he receives healing from the Lord. Have you prayed for someone in this way and seen God’s hand? What are your thoughts on this subject?
Consider James 5:16
Paul was willing to pick up twigs for the fire and also stepped up to pray for individuals in our text: What is your natural leaning? Are you quicker to tangibly serve (pick up sticks) or spiritually serve (praying or teaching).
How should we balance spiritually serving and tangibly serving?
Ask for prayer requests and close it out!
