1. Using Acts 1:8, review the big outline of the book of Acts: [TIP: maybe use 3x5 cards to play a game to see who can get entire outline correctly along with chapters]

ii. Jerusalem counsel (15)
iii. Paul’s 2nd missionary journey (16-18)
iv. Paul’s 3rd missionary journey (18-21)
Have someone read this week’s passage: Acts 18:23-28
2. Make a list of observations about the man, Apollos, as described by Luke.
Cf. I Corinthians 1:10-12; 3:5
3. Discuss how he combined accurate teaching with a fervent spirit.
What are the potential strengths of each?
What are the potential weaknesses of each?
How does fact that Apollos combined the two help?
4. What is the “baptism of John”? [TIP: see Luke 3:16-17; John 3:5-6; Acts 1:5; 8:15ff.]
5. What is the role of Priscilla and Aquilla in this scene?
What strikes you about their attitude and actions towards Apollos?
Has there ever been a Priscilla/Aquilla in your life? Describe.

6. Where are we susceptible today to neglect the importance of both passion and biblical accuracy in our teachers? [TIP: not just in pulpit but in books and blogs and podcasts and social media, etc]
